Nursery

We have a poloroid i-zone camera and we take pictures of all the kids, then we make little stars and stick the pictures on the stars.   We tape them up on the door eye-level to the kids and then they look for their picture and bring it into nursery and  put it on the wall.   They love to look at their picture and all of their friends who didn't make it to nursery that week.

We make musical toys sometimes with the kids.  Of course there are certain things they can't do, but we help and they love it. We put on some music and they sing, dance, whatever!  Here's some of the ones we do.
1. Paper Shakers - roll butcher paper (about 12 inches long) as much paper as you want.  Tape it and cut it down from the top to the middle.  Kids love to shake these.
2. Tube horn - This one is easy - save tubes from paper towels, tin foil, toilet paper etc.
3. Drums - Quaker Oats containers - tape the lid down
4. Shakers - Fill any container with anything.  Another one that they love to make and use.
5. Bells - Sew Christmas jingle bells to fabric or felt and glue to dowels.
6. Clackers - cut dowels into 4-5 inch pieces.
7. Cymbals - Tin pie plates with thin rope or string tied through the center.

Have fun!

We made some handy Ziploc Books for our Nursery.  You can make them to go with any subject you want to focus on. Makes pages that you want to use.  Pictures glued to contuction paper etc. Cut a little smaller than a quart size baggie. Slip "pages" inside the open end of the baggie and sew a double row of stitches in the opposite end that opens.  When you want to "read" the book open the zip lock side slip the baggie back away from the book. When you are done slip it back, seal and put away.  They are easy to do and are wonderful for the kids.

This idea is not new or orginal but we have great fun every week playing "Going on a Bear Hunt" with the nursery kids. Not only do we come to a wheat field or climb a wide tree, but they think up all kinds of fun things to do while we are on our bear hunt.
